What does calcium chloride do in PRP preparation?
Calcium chloride activates platelets by restoring calcium ions that were removed during anticoagulation (typically with sodium citrate). This mimics the natural clotting cascade and causes platelets to release their growth factors (PDGF, TGF-β, VEGF, EGF, etc.) prior to or at the time of injection.

What Are Benefits of Calcium Chloride?
Calcium chloride is commonly used to activate platelet-rich plasma (PRP) by initiating the body’s natural clotting cascade. This process stimulates platelets to release growth factors and cytokines that support cellular signaling, tissue repair, and regeneration. It also helps form a fibrin matrix, which can improve the stability and biological activity of PRP.
