Platelet-Rich Plasma for Skin Rejuvenation

Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) therapy has become quite a sought-after non-surgical procedure. PRP can rejuvenate the skin by injecting your own blood plasma under the dermis. This stimulates cell growth and collagen production. It can also improve a patient’s facial complexion, texture and lost facial volume. PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma) is also used for anti-aging treatments, acne marks, and fat transfers.

What is a PRP Facial?

A PRP facial otherwise known as a “PRP blood facial” is a non-surgical cosmetic treatment designed to make your face look healthier and more youthful. This procedure uses platelet-rich plasma to exploit your skin's natural rejuvenation process. PRP facials can be administered using a PRP Kit and a microchanneling or microneedling device.

What are the PRP Facial Benefits?

  • Minimize acne scars
  • Treat crow’s feet
  • Enhance skin tone, texture, and quality
  • Reduce fine lines and blemishes
  • Replace volume loss and increases collagen
  • Reduces sun damage
  • Increase skin elasticity

What does PRP facial rejuvenation involve?

A PRP facial is not something you can do at home. It must be conducted by a trained medical professional in a medical setting. Patients will see improvements after their first treatment, but it is recommended to continue treatments every 4-6 weeks to maintain your results. PRP facial rejuvenation targets individuals who are looking for a natural treatment to improve acne scarring, crow’s feet, reduce fine lines and more.

How does PRP Rejuvenation work?

Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) can be done as an individual treatment or in combination with other treatments such as microneedling. PRP treatment can be broken down to a three-step procedure that involves

  1. Drawing your blood
  2. Separating the platelets from the rest of your blood in a centrifuge
  3. Re-integrating the platelets into your skin. The spinning process concentrates the platelets and results in a platelet count several times higher than whole blood.

Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) facial rejuvenation uses these platelets from your own blood to promote collagen production and trigger growth factors. These growth factors play an essential role in increasing skin elasticity.

A practitioner can apply the PRP solution topically or can use it in combination with a microneedling device for further penetration into the skin.

Is PRP for facial rejuvenation safe?

Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is made of your own plasma, which greatly reduces the risk of adverse reactions. Mild redness, irritation, pinpoint bleeding, and bruising or
swelling after your treatment may occur but should quickly resolve within a few days. PRP is usually safe for most patients. However, if you’re pregnant, take blood thinners, or have a blood-clotting disorder, your provider may caution against PRP therapy.

PRP facial rejuvenation is an effective treatment option for both individuals just starting to explore anti-aging and skin rejuvenation treatments and for patients looking to maintain healthy skin or enhance it before a big event.
